The term "chair yoga" refers to techniques that adapt yoga poses to be performed while seated on a chair. Due to these adaptations, yoga is now available to those who are unable to stand, have limited mobility, or just need a quick break from their desk jobs. Many of the fundamental body mechanics of the various postures are constant. Students can perform variations of twists, hip stretches, forward bends, and gentle backbends while seated on chairs.
Anyone who wishes to benefit from yoga but may (or may not) have mobility issues can practise chair yoga. For anyone who requires additional support, is managing an injury, or prefers a more therapeutic approach to the practise, chair yoga is fantastic. As older individuals are chair yoga's primary target demographic, it is commonly available in senior centres and retirement complexes. However, those with neurological disorders and obesity are also suitable candidates for chair yoga. Office employees can benefit from chair yoga's modifications to stretch while working.
